What is there to do in the area?
National park Dwingelderveld
Welcome to Dwingelderveld National Park, the largest wet moorland area in Europe! Be surprised by the panoramic views, beautiful forests and deafening silence. What makes this area so special is that the heathland is maintained by two flocks of sheep with a shepherd. You can admire these heath sheep at the Ruinen and Lhee sheepfolds. Start your cycling or walking route at Bezoekerscentrum Dwingelderveld and enjoy all the flora and fauna you will encounter.
Cycling and walking routes Drenthe
With 1,100 kilometres of cycle paths, Drenthe is the perfect province to explore by bike. But not only that, the province also lends itself well to mountain biking, hiking, Nordic walking and horse riding. Cycle and walk through the vast forests and moorland landscapes to the dolmens.
Play and ice cream farm De Drentse Koe
De Drentse Koe play and ice farm means endless fun and games in a very nice place: the farm! This farm in Ruinerwold has grown into a huge petting zoo, where children can climb, clamber, jump and pet animals all day long. For a day, you really get that farmer's feeling. You can also enjoy sandwiches and a 'Drents Koe Ice Cream', made from fresh milk.
Wildlands Adventure Zoo
At Wildlands it is possible, making a world expedition in one day. In Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen you will travel together through the jungle, the polar region and the savannah.

Pure nature
Anyone looking for a relaxing nature or camping holiday in the Netherlands need look no further. A real plus at EuroParcs Ruinen is the possibility of WinterGlamping. From the park, you can also undertake challenging mountain bike tours and beautiful cycling and walking routes. In fifteen minutes you can cycle to the heart of National Park Dwingelderveld, the largest wet heath area in Europe. Nature lovers will be delighted with the special flora and fauna to be discovered here. Explore the nature reserve on your own or with the forest ranger. Especially during lambing season, a walk to the flock from the park is highly recommended.
Drenthe villages and dolmens
Drenthe villages and dolmens
Visit the charming villages in the vicinity of the holiday park, such as the village of Ruinen. The brink is a place where cows and sheep used to gather. Due to the growth of the village, it came to lie in the centre. In the summer, several markets with typical regional products are held here. For dolmens you do not have to travel far: you discover some at Havelte and Diever! The picturesque town of Meppel is perfect for a day's shopping and pleasant terraces. Also Giethoorn is not far away, where a canal cruise should certainly not be missed. But on the park itself you can also enjoy the indoor swimming pool and the (indoor) playground.
Dog-friendly holiday park
Dog-friendly holiday park
EuroParcs Ruinen is a dog-friendly holiday park. Your four-legged friend is more than welcome at the park. We have specially equipped accommodations (with care and water and food bowl), dogs are allowed in the restaurant and there is even a special dog snack menu. Furthermore, there is a nicce dog walking route and playground at the park. In addition, you will find several off-leash routes in the vicinity of the park.
